Uncle & Auntie

For my very first Auntie and Uncle Day Celebration, I’m going to make a scrapbook.

Surprised? What other activity would I do to have fun? And, if I go ‘extra’ create as an heirloom. Only the best stock on my family art, my adult fridge art ; ) Besides, most people get a tickle out of reminiscing fond memories of outdated…and returning fashion styles, and old songs. It’s especially fun seeing our elderly family transform back to the spritely, bright-eyed and bushy-tail tots, and teens in photos. If you’re lucky!

Minerva May Creations makes everyday living memories into adorable art for everyone. Whether you are scrapbooking your own story or creating your own made-up thing, our ‘Blended Eras’ collection is a great starting point.

That’s where the fun comes in for me, any reason to dig through ephemera, pull out my sparkly glue, and start cutting up some, hehe? Arts and Crafts ya’ll. I like fussy cutting from old papers and crafting my collage creations.

So my personal reason for participating in this newly established tradition is to acknowledge the role that uncles and aunties play in the lives of young people. As mentors and coaches, uncles and aunts provide guidance, support, and advice that helps young people navigate their way through life. While uncles and aunties are often related to their mentees by blood, it is the special bond of trust and friendship that they share that makes them such valuable mentors. On this day, we celebrate all the uncles and aunties out there who have made a difference in the lives of young people. Thank you for everything that you do!

In our culture, uncles, and aunties often play an important role in our lives as mentors and coaches.
