Decorating Aunties

I Miss You, Auntie.

Today is the day after your birthdate. It's strange how we all live in a time machine of some sort. As soon as the month of March rolled in, your lucky number 18 greeted me as forever a reminder of you.

I remember the last time I spoke with you, I still have the note with the two items you needed from the grocery store then. These days, I'm into making my 'Ideal Scrapbooks', and 'Junk Journalls' so all my ephemera will soon be tucked away into a curated museum-quality album. I'm learning the best ways to preserve my precious memories and as many of the stories you've shared in your living memory and those older stories passed down to you. I know, in spirit I will always have our memories together to help me continue on in life.

I wish I could make you proud and say I too can bake up a storm. I definitely can't make your blue ribbon creampuff recipe, my absolute favorite dessert in the world. Yeah, that didn't happen, but there's always time, I suppose. Maybe, if I could find that Bette Crocker cookbook we used on so many Saturdays. I'm sure, that would make all the difference ; )

So until next year, 2 decades strong I'll be thinking of ways to pass on those exceptional Math skills, something that will always be needed. I'll also keep testing the world over for the next best creampuff or maybe, just maybe I'll luck upon that old red checkered patterned cookbook.
